Only a Few Days Left in Paris, France

I have only a few days left here in Paris, France so I’ve decided to make the most of my stay. One of the only people in my hostel that I can actually stand is a young woman by the name of Elizabeth. I never got around to asking about her background, but nevertheless she spoke English and was actually pretty mature for her age. When we bumped into the lobby this morning I decided she was going to be my partner in crime for the day!

Elizabeth, who was probably only about 2 or 3 years younger than I am, had been to Paris before and guaranteed she could take me to some pretty cool under-the-radar spots. I obviously decided to follow along. Since it was still fairly early in the day, Elizabeth told me we should start out by getting some early lunch at a bar she thought I would enjoy.

We swept through allies and side streets until we stumbled upon a somewhat dingy-looking establishment. I looked at Elizabeth with what must have been a face of disgust, because she immediately sent back a smile of encouragement and a look that said “trust me.”

I lost my breath as soon as we walked in. This place was incredible: vaulted ceilings, real wax candles set upon stone walls, soft French jazz playing in the background, and the kind of decor you could only find in Paris, France. I was totally surprised by Elizabeth’s taste and knew this was a girl after my own heart.

Elizabeth and I sat at the bar and were greeted by a cute young waiter who poured us some wine and brought some bread for us to snack on. We spent a good long while just sitting at the bar, drinking wine, and talking with each other and our waiter.

Before too long it was around 3 in the afternoon, so Elizabeth and I paid for our lunch and headed out back toward the hostel. We ended up running into some of the other folks staying with us and — mostly because I was a little tipsy — agreed to have them join us on our exploration of Paris, France.

After walking for quite some time, the group decided to pop into a cafe to grab some coffee and people watch as the sun went down. I have to admit, this group really wasn’t as bad as I had thought and I have actually come to enjoy most of them! Looking forward to spending my last few days here with a good group of individuals.
