When Is the Best Time to Visit Las Vegas?

Las Vegas is a magical place! It’s one of the most thrilling tourist locations on Earth, constantly attracting massive crowds. Las Vegas, or should I say the “Sin City,” has a special charm that brings in more than 40 million people visit each year. If you’re among them, more so if you’re visiting for the first time, then perhaps this quick piece will be of service.

If, however, you’d like a more in-depth approach at “the best time to visit Last Vegas,” then this article is a must-read. It packs a lot more info and is divided into “the worst” and “the best” sections with several emphasized months. It’s a real no-brainer if you’re interested in traveling to Las Vegas anytime soon!

Summer in Las Vegas

Visiting Las Vegas during the summer is the favorite choice for most tourists. The demand for accommodation is sky high, and people generally don’t seem to be too scared of the skin-burning heat that swallows the Desert Jewel every single year.

If you’re looking for a taste of LV’s heat, May is the month you should be aiming for! Early May, to be precise. Yes, May isn’t exactly summer, but it’s close enough temperature-wise. The heat isn’t going to kill ya, which will make for a much better overall experience, especially if you don’t plan on hiding in temperature-controlled casinos.

Late May and early June are often tightly packed, with families swarming in from all over the country. Expect the hotel rates to be slightly higher than usual. The heat is still not at its highest, but temperatures could go above 100 pretty quickly.

As far as July goes, that’s when the heat becomes a real issue. Most visitors think they can handle Las Vegas heat up to the very moment when the temperatures go above 110. Then, all of a sudden, they need to go inside an air-conditioned environment, so their pores get a break.

Needless to say, the extreme July heat affects hotel rates, so you will find them a bit cheaper than average. So, if you don’t mind having to stay in to keep your pores from sweating your very soul out, then July doesn’t seem half bad.

If you’re just looking to avoid the summer heat, perhaps September is the right month to travel to Las Vegas! It’s not too hot nor too cold, the temperatures are superb and will allow you to walk up and down the Strip without having to worry about heat stroke. The prices vary year to year, but they’re still less expensive than October.

Winter in Las Vegas

Winter in Las Vegas is pretty similar to summer, except for obviously much better temperatures. However, we won’t solely focus on winter, but fresher months in general. After all, Las Vegas is located in the middle of a desert, meaning you can’t really expect snow either way. What you can expect, however, is a more comfortable outdoor experience, but your hotel rates might still feel the burn.

First, let’s start off with the biggest don’t—New Year’s Eve! Just don’t, period. It’s expensive, too crowded, and it’s not worth it if you’re visiting LV for the first time. Heck, come to think of it, it’s not worth visiting that time of year even if you’ve been there several times already. Even Trip Advisor can back up this claim.

What’s the best winter month to visit LV? January! Nope, that’s not a typo… If you’re looking to visit Las Vegas during the winter, January is your best bet. The demand won’t be too high because people usually spend all their money in November and December, which means lower prices. There’s not much going on in terms of things to see (most of the time), but it’s still Vegas we’re talking about here, so there will be plenty of action to talk about later on.
