Using a Bullet Journal to Plan and Document Your Summer Vacation

Bullet journals can be used for many aspects of your life, but especially when it comes to planning and documenting your vacations. Summer is right around the corner and now is the perfect time to start planning that ultimate summer vacation and what better way than with the help of a trusty summer bullet journal!

Planning Your Summer Vacation with a Bullet Journal

First, use your bullet journal to plan and prepare your vacation. Once you know the destination, you can really start to plan. I always like to start my bullet journal with an information page. This is where I am going to keep important phone numbers, addresses, dates and times. For example, I will jot down emergency phone numbers, the number and address to hotels and local hospitals along with flight times, flight numbers and other important details regarding my trip.

Another important section of the planning part of my bullet journal is my packing list. This always keeps me organized. I plan out what I need to pack and when I go to pack I have the list right there. This also comes in handy when I need to pack to come home so that I don’t forget anything! I always organize my packing list into different categories like my clothes, shoes, beauty products, makeup, etc. There are some helpful templates you can print online or you can make your own.

Make a list of things you want to do while on vacation. You don’t want to plan too much detail, but try to make a list of the activities you want to do and on what day. Things like when you want to go to the beach or when you want to relax and get a message. This will help keep your days busy, but still, be able to leave time to get the things you want to get done accomplished!

Documenting Your Summer Vacation with a Bullet Journal

While on vacation, use your bullet journal to track your journey. I like to do this so that I can look back at memorable moments from my trip. Don’t spend too much time at the moment documenting, but jot down bullet points. Then, at the end of the day, take the time to reflect back and really go into full detail. You will also want to add visuals like photos, tickets, maps and other souvenirs from your trip. This way, you can turn your bullet journal into a scrapbook once your vacation is over and you will be able to use this as a way to look back on your vacation.

Another way to document your vacation is to create a bucket list. Make a list of things that you want to get done while you are on vacation. A daily checklist is also helpful. Sometimes when we are on vacation we get caught up in the moment and forget to follow a daily routine. Keep a list of things you want to get done during the day, even while on vacation. This is will help remind you and help hold you accountable.

Remember – Have Fun!

You want to have fun on your vacation and you also want to have fun with your summer bullet journal! Decorate it with stickers, tape, and fun colors. You can also make it a special theme. Like if you are going to Disneyland, you can go with a Disney theme or a tropical theme if you are heading to the beach. You can find plenty of ideas and stencils online. Use your creative side to really personalize your bullet journal.

You can even take it a step further and include maps of your vacation. Add dates, the destination and brief details about the trip. Here is a great example!
